Last night» The Gistaao Riot Case. The Grand Jury threw out the bill against Flcsraan, J.P., Ward and others for riot at Gisborne, and brought down the following ■presentment— 1"" That the action of the Gisborae authorities iv sending such a paltry case for trial to Wellington entailing as ifc docs, such expenses and trouble is £ most reprehensible." His Honor promised to forward the presentment to tho Colonel Secretary,-and remarked thnt if he found that he had power to disallow the expenses of the prosecution he would do so. New Chairman of Native Petitions Committee. Mr Hamlin succeeds Mr Bryce a 8 chairman of the Native Petitions Committee.
