Last night

Attention to tho wants of Volunteers.

A new drill hill, costing £1000, was opened by Major Noake. The Volunteers of the district mustered in full force, several hundred being present. The day was observed as a half holiday, and being rery fine immense crowds turned out and witnessed the proceedings. Major Noake was in command of the Volunteers, and laudatory speeches were made by ihe Major, and acknowledged by Captain Watt, of the Wanganui Kifles.
