The Melbourne Chamber of Commerce officially announced with regard to the contract of the P. and O. Company that it was most beneficial for the colonies and practicable under the circumstances. The iron clipper ship Ivanhoe, which went ashore at Bridgeport, near Tami Heads in August, was brought to Melbourne very little hurt. Speculator* purchased her for under £400. The property of the Australia Colliery Company on which nearly £70,000 was spent in developing, has been purchased for £8500.
The mint authorities received another instalment of £25,000 worth of new ailrer.
