.^deputation from tbe Working Men's Bights League waited on the Premier and Minister of Lands this' morning for ihe purpose of urging upon the Government tho necessity of providing working men with tbe means of settlement on country lauds. Sir George Grey said tho Government intended introducing a bill which had been framed last session. The Minister foe Lands explained that the object of the bill was to reduce the price of land on deferred payments. The minimum was fixed at 30s, but it would rest wilh the Land Board to raise the price in case of very choice lands. Another proposal was that tho Government should take power to survey lands in the vicinity of public* works, and sell them under order in Council, fixing terms of payment. This way of settlement would be effected as soon as possible. It was also proposed that the size of the sections be from a quarter of an acre to 40 acres, to meet the case of men employed on public works who could spend halt their time improving their lend. The Premier thought the deputation would find the scheme meet their views.
