At the District Court to-day, Mrs Hedge obtained a verdict for £65 against the Corporation for medical expenses incurred by her receiving an accident by falling off the footpath, through the neglect of the defendants. In the Supreme Court this morning an important question cropped up in the case of Donald and another t. Gleich, the Adelaide bankrupt. The plaintiffs are Wellington creditors, and having obtained judgment against the defendant, the sheriff seized certain goods in execution. A claim to the property was then made by John Cherry, of Adelaide, who alleges it passes to him as official assignee of insolvent estates, the defendant having been insolvent there some time ago. The sheriff for his protection now interpleaded. His Honor Judge .Richmond, by consent directed a case to determine the question should be settled between the parties, and submitted for the opinion of the Court. In the meantime the property is to be sold, and the proceeds to be brought into Court to abide the result.

Fresh Additions to list of Unemployed.

A number of the men employed on the Wanganui Harbor reclamation works, and receiving 8s per day, struck work and demanded 9s. The contractor refuses to accede to the demand, and will obtain fresh men.

Payment for Broken Promises.

At the District Court, the case of Webber v. Nationalj Band was heard. This was an action brought by the plaintiff to recover from defendants the, sum of £200 damages for injuries sustained by the former, in , consequence the latter having dishonored his cheque after he had been promised an overdraft. Verdict was given for the plaintiff for £20 and costs, the defendants mentioned they intended to appeal.
