THE LIBERAL ASSOCIATION.
(To the Editor of the Evening SUr.)
Sib,—l most heartily agree with, that part of your last evening's leading article which saja that the meeting of the members of the Liberal Association was not a •atisfactory one. That there are differences of opinion as to details there can be no doubt, bat there> was a remarkable—if not suspicious—unanimity in one partiealar—that is, all were very Grey Liberals, professing to believe it necessary to tend Grey members to Parliament to carry oat the Liberal policy of Sir Goo. Grey. Sir, if such professions are honest, why try to hamper the. Liberal Association with rules and conditions ■ which would hinder the success of its policy P I think it quite proper s and legitimate for an Association of this kind to choose a man and run him, and if ifc*
attains to the magnitude foreshadowed by some of the speakers at the late meeting, any candidate the Association choose to ran is bound to be elected. If we divide our votes between half-a-dozen Grey men I am greatly afraid that a Grey .For will slink into the seat about to be vacated by the great Liberal Leader.?—! am, &c, ..;::• GWSY LIBIOiX.
