This day,

Mary Smith, who attempted suicide in the havbor yesterday, was examined this morning, and found to be of unsound mind, and sent to the Lunatic Asylum.

About one o'clock this morning Mary Corbotfc was hauled out of the water, apparently having tried to drown herself in the harbor.

Severe strictures have been made on the immorality of the last night's ptrfor-

uiiiiico of the Loftus Troupe. It wus given out from the stage iaufc night .that to-uight's performance would be the last, and ladies and children would not bo admitted.

From 1856 to present time 1809 writs have been issued from the Supreme Court. Of these 508 were sent out since the commencement of the present year.

The facts regarding Capt. Hewitt's dismissal are, that he receired a letter from the Government informing him that he was dismissed from the service, but assigning no reason whatever. Subsequently, however, he received another letter asking him if he wus agreeable that the previous shouid bo considered as not having been sent or placed upon record.

Clapcott, of the Insurance Department, also received a similar notification, but he showed that he took no part in the elections, not even voting.
