Last night.
A buggy upset yesterday going over the Waimakariri bridge, and the passengers were thrown out. A son of a Lyttelton resident besides other injuries had his lower ja broken.
An inquest was held to-day on the body of the child found in the river on Sunday. The doctor said he could not decide whether it was born alive or not. The jury disagreeing* the inquest was remanded for a week. A handkerchief, with a name on it, was found iv the sugar bag containing the child.
A good deal of talk has been occasioned to-day, by a very plain spoken article in the Lyttelton Times this morning, from the pen of its well known travelling correspondent on the Dunedin fire. He gives some facts about the buildine which were not hitherto known here, and the reported arrest of Waters, and the turn the inquest has assumed give great significance to his remarks. • '
