The declaration of the poll for Franklin yesterday was—Hamlin, 919 ; Harris, 868.
The Commissioners on the Middle Island land claims are still sitting, but will shortly proceed to the South.
The Star makes the final result of the elections exclusive of Grey for the Thames —Government 41, Opposition 34,, Independent 10. The Herald reckons the Government at 41, Opposition 39, Independent 7.
A protest was lodged against Lundon's election for the Bay of Islands on the ground that he was elected on a corrupt roll. Sydney Taiwhanga^ who entered the protest in this case also protests against the election of Mohi Tawhai for Northern Maori district as being a Native Assessor.
