NELSON.
Last night. Great interest was taken in the Municipal election yesterday. More votes were recorded than on any previous occasion. There were seven candidates, but Councillors Everett, Levin and Hounsell were re-elected. Tho Nelson Licensed Victuallers Association held their first annual dinner last night. It was a great success, the Mayor being in the chair. The city members and a number of the leading citizens were present. Kindred Associations were toasted. There appears some bungle over the Collingwood election: The total numbers polled were—Gib^s 143. Huddlestone 131, Armstrong 12, but the Deputy-Beturning Officer at Stratford omitted to stamp the ballot papers, and consequently the Returning Officer disallowed them, thereby making the result—Huddlestone 126, Gibbs 117, Armstrong 10. There is great dissatisfaction in Nelson, it being thought that Mr Gibbs should be declared elected,. • ■■
