SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
The death sentence passed on Johanna Sullivan for infanticide, and Eaglets Jack an aborginal, hare been commuted to 14 years. An extraordinary case of suicide occurred at Gawler, two men, Nerille and Adamson, for years past in partnership as gardeners, evidently ranch attached to each other were found hanging in their wine cellar face to face, about 18 inches apart. Both were inoffensive men and monetary difficulties is supposed to be the cause of the suicide. There was an action against them, and as they could not be found, it was thought they had left by the Bidge Park. His Excellency the Governor and Lady Jerrois, leave for Sydney via Melbourne by the Tombaro. £14,000 worth of exhibits were sent to the Sydney Exhibition, per the Bidge Park.
The Tice Admiralty Court decided againit Cruickshank, who sued for the cost of repairs done to the barque Courier, the work having been done without the authority of the owner orjbis /gent. The barque was sold at Wellington without the knowledge of the owner. On the royage to Port Adelaide, she was f rounded, sustaining damages which the shipwright repaired. An appeal to the Privy Council is probable.
