DUNEDIN.
Last night. Details of the Fire... The following is a list of those re* covered from the fire, with the details regarding them :—Bobt. Wilson, aged 59, Sarah Wilson, aged 40, Frederick Wilson, aged 19, Sarah Wilson, aged 8, Lawrence Wilson, aged 4, George Augustus Martin, aged 23, John Taylor, aged 20, a man unidentified, of the supposed name of Swan, and another man and hoj not known. The police are making inquiries, and it is anticipated that some light will be thrown upon the origin of the fire at the inquest. ' A meting of the Fire Underwriters Association, was held this afternoon, Mr Jack in the chair. A resolution was adopted to the effect that the present means for extinguishing fires provided by the City, nre not as perfect as they might be, and requesting that the Council take the matter into consideration. During the whole day the Corporation laborers hare been employed removing debris at the scene of the late fire, and portions of the remains of another body, the eleveath were found. At Ross' building this morning, they were those of a young man apparently about 29 years of age, bat the position in which they were found, viz., at the extreme north end of the building, shows that it can hardly be possible that they can be those of the late Mr Wilson's eldest son. At a little past four to-day another body was discovered on the second floor of the building, thus making up twelve, it was that of a man, bat not yet identified. One W. B. Dodson, who had been employed by the head bailiff of the B.M. Court, is reported missing. He had a week ago expressed his intention of taking a room at P W building. One of the bodies recovered yesterday was identified as that of Margaret McCartney, Wilson's servant. An in* quest will be held on Thursday. The Star says—We believe there is no reason for suspecting that the fire was the work of au incendiary, and we hare authority for firing a flat denial to the report which was circulated to-day to the effect that certain persons had been apprehended in connection therewith. The Hospital authorities hare placed a room at the disposal of the police, and the bodies hare been placed in it.
