Tho election nre causing a great deal of excitement, which is more intense because it is doubtful whether the proceedings are valid, as the polling booth at Hastings was not opened through'some misunderstanding until two hours late. Where the error lay cannot now be ascertained. The result of tho polling is exceedingly doubtful. .'■•■
Ormond is addressing meetings all through the Clive district, and he inrariably receires rotes of confidence, but Sheehan is expected to run him pretty close.
