RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

ALLEGED LARCENY,

Thomas Millet was charged with stealing two mining; props, value 2s, the property of John Maher. Mr Miller for defendant, pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor and two others were examined, their evidence being to the effect that defendant had come to Maher's residence on Sunday week last> and had taken the two props, stating they were his property. The defendant made a statement claiming the props as his own, and the Court dismissed the case, as ifc was evident that there was a dispute regarding the ownership of the property.

ANOTHEB CASE. John Young, was charged with stealing certain mining tools to the value of £1 10s, the property of F. Daykin. There was no nppoaranco of the prosecutor, and defendant pleaded not guilty. The Court said^ it could not allow the case to be withdrawn. Mr Miller for defendant, said he was quite prepared to go through with the case. The Court adjourned the case fill tomorrow. 1 At this Mr Brassey said he appeared plaintiff, and stated from information prosecutor had received, he believed Young was not guilty, and desired to withdraw the case, which the Court Agreed to nllow upon plaintiff paying 16s the cost of returning the tools to where they emnt from. Court adjourned.
