Thames Harbor Board.
The usual fortnightly meeting of tbe Board wat held last evening. PresentMr W. Davies (Chairman), Measra Ebrenfried, Osborae, Brovrn, Bagnall, McGowan, Wilson, and Scad. MINUTEB. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. GEIDIRON. A committee consisting of the Chairman Messrs Osborne, Ehrenfried, and Brown were appointed for tlie purpose of obtaining information, plans, etc., in view of the proposed removal of the gridiron on which the Government announced the sum of £100 might be spent. FORESHOBE ALLOTMENTS. Mr Price was in attendanoe~vnd said the reason he had not purchased the foreshore .allotments for ship-building purposes was because he objected to the clauses required, and large yearly expenditure on improvements. Further consideration of the matter was adjourned till next meeting. BAH.WAY Committee. Messrs Souter and Co. intimated that they no longer required to use the wharf in conneolrn with their railway reclamation confraefc. The secretary was inBtructwS^to request them to restore the wharf to its former state, in accordance with arrangement. ACCOUNTS. Several accounts were passed for payment. ;. ■.'..■ ■■ ■>. . • ■ ■ ■• BKSIGITATION OF HABBOITB MABTEB. • Capt. Best sent in his resignation of the office of Harbor Master. The resignation was accepted, the Board expressing regret at Capt. Best severing the connection he had had >o long. It was decided to present Capt. Best with a framed address. ; HAEBOUB MASTER'S SAI.AET. Mr Brown moved—"That the salary of the Harbour Master and Pilot be at the rate of £150 per annum, the duties of such office to include the collection of charges for wharfage and shipping dues, the examination of applicants for exemptioa certificates, the supervision of lighting and extinquisbing the lamps on goods wharf, and the care of all buoys and beacons." Mr Eead seconded. Carried. BESIGNATION OF CHAIBMAK. The Chairman intimated his resignation of his position of Chairman. He thanked the members of the Board for their kindness during the time he had been in office. Mr Ehreofried expressed regrafc at the Chairman's determination to resign. He moved a vote of thanks to him for past servies. Carried. APPOIKTMEHT OF HABBOTJBMASTEB. Mr , Davies was then unanimously elected io the office of Harbour Master on the motion of Mr Osborne. AFPOIHTMBST OF CHAIRMAN. Mr Brown was appointed Chairman of tht Board vice Mr Davies, resigned. This concluded the business.
