J. T. Cunningham of Loburn, is being requisitioned to stand for Ashley, and P. T. Morgan, Custom-house agent, comes forward against the Hon Mr Fisher for Heathcote. Goodwin, the other candidate, has resigned in his favor. The fire alarm last night proved to be a chimney on fire in a bacon smokehouse in a butcher's shop in Colombo street.
At the Wairau Court on Thursday, Milino Bros, were fined four hundred pounds for a breach of section 25 of the Sheep Act, for not having sheep branded with their letter.
A special omnibus leaves town tomorrow for New Brighton with volnnteers to assist in the search for the missing man Yen all. The Lytteltnn Times Sick Fund entertainment last night was a great success. The Theatre Koyal was crowded.
