' •■ ■ ■ :-. ■■■} ■ I : I am, Gentlemea, .-'.< -•' , Yours, &c., ' ALEX. BHODIB. | Wellington, 10th August, 1879. 881 TO THE ELECTORS OF THE THAMES. /^IENTIiEMENV—I take the earliest opportunity of intimating to you that it is my intention to solicit your suffrages at the forthcoming General Election. I will make it my business to visit you, and explain my views and polioy personally. Yours Faithfully, JOHN SHEEHAN. 832 TO THE ELECTORS OF THAMES. r\ BNTLEMEN.—In the event of Sir George Grey electing to be nominated for another Constituency, I shall offer myself as a CANDIDATE for your SUFFRAGES at the Forthcoming Election. V ours respectfully, W. FRASER. Tararu, 13th August, 1879. 876 STILL THEY COME J TO ELECTORS "AND NON-ELEC-TOKS OF THAMES. C\ ENTLEMEN.—In the event of Gxobdy XX Gbbt electing to offer himself for re* election for this district, I beg to offer myself as an Opposition Candidate, for I hate a " walk orer," and the Opposition have lost all fnith in Billy, from the awkward manner he schemed lately, and the clumsey way in which he rowed himself over the Fiako Swamp; and as I have an ambition to get into the Home, so that I can better my position in life and throw a crumb occasionally to those of my supporter*—but detest crawling in on Geordy's coat tails—l, theiefore, come fair and square as an Oppositionist and solicit your support., I will vote for the completion of your Railway, but will, with Sir the Fox, acquire all lands of any value within ten miles of the said line for Qur mutual benefit, and thus create ourselves into your landed aristocracy without further delay. I will reduce the franchise to those of my own supporters; I will vote for an extension of Parliaments from five to ten yean, so that I can make sure of my seat for that term | I will adjust the Representation Bill, to that you will hare but one Member—and that myself—instead. of two, as heretofore; and many other reforms will I promise—in fact, anything and •everything you like to ask, in order ! that I may obtain- the seat, and put Grey to the right about with his nonsense about the sovereign rights of the people. I may state that I have this day recced a telegram from Sir Reynard stating th»t the Opposition will place 5,000 yellow Geordies to my credit at the " Corner " as soon as I am j fairly in tlie field, to distribute among my supporters, and to carry on the war to inuke my nomination and election sure. I hope these taj liberal views will meet with a like return. In conclusion, I would like to accomplish two objects at once, and by combining duty and butineM kill the Fox and the Billy at one shot; or, in other words, to notify to all and sundry that I do all manner of carpenter and joiner work on the shortest notice, at the highest possible price consistent with a re* ntwal of favors. I ata, yours candidly, Jambs MoAndbiw, Carpenter, Builder, Ao. Em street, Thames, August It, 1879. 195 ••••■■•
