A telegram was awaiting Mr McCutlough in Auckland, from the Under* -Secretary for Crown Lands, Wellington, stating that the Waste Lands Board would not lease Tairua and the adjoining block to the Union Sash and Door Company, in response to his request on behalf of the Thames district, and another stating that Percy Smith, as suggested by him, would make a selection from the Aroha Block for an endowment for the Thames High School.
Mr Mackaj will contest Waikato in the Grey interest.
Mr Speight will likely ran for City West; on the Grey ticket.
The Thames delegates will leave here by the Rotomahana this afternoon.
