THIS DAY. (Before H. Eenrick, Esq., E.M.) WIM KfcSBBTION. Malcolm Bruce was charged with deserting his wife andchildren. Defendant pleaded not guilty. Mr Dodd appeared for complainant. Martha Bruce, sworn, deposed—l am the ■ wife, of defendant. I recollect 6 weeks ago being struck by defendant, and 1 went out of the house. Defendant locked me out. On Sunday he ordered me out of the house and refused to let me in, and { told me I was not coming in any more. He has treated me very badly. I have been living on defendant's credit. - - By defendant: The cause of the quarrel is my visiting my sister. I did not visit her 13 times a week. I hare served in the bar. William Ereritt gave corroborative eTidence. His Worship held that no desertion had been proved, and the case was dismissed. ASSAULT. Jane French was charged .with assaulting one Maria Donovan. Defendant pleaded not gnilty. Maria Donovan deposed that defendant came to her'place drunk, and asked the loan of two pence. * Witness refused, and told her to be off, when Mrs French struck har in. the eye;-. The defendant denied striking her, and (Jailed Patrick' -Kelly,' wh6 deposed defendant and plaintiff had a dispute, but no blow was struck; Case dismissed. , Court adjourned.
