Last night.
Freeman Jackson reports sales to-day as follows:—Cattle s fat bullocks, £8 15s and £10 2s 6d ; cows, £7 7s 6d and £9 2s 6d. Mixed stores: steers, and heifers, £4 3s; cows and calves £5 2s 6d; milch cows up to £7 10; calves, £2 2s. Sheep: 729 were penned. Fat wethers, 9a 9d to 10s 3d; ewes, 7s to 8s 6d; store ewes, 6s 9d. Figs : good fat porkers, 21s to 28s. Horses: some good unbroken horses were sold. Draught, £36 10s to £24 10s, £16 and £18; backs up to £21 10s, and screws from £3 to £5. Hay, £3 10s per ton.
A committee is forming for Fox; Both Wanganui and Bangitikei elections are expected to be closely contested. ■
The Wanganui Spring meeting is fixed for Friday, 7th November. £309 will be given as stakes.'
