GREYMOUTH.
Last night, r A public meeting was held in town on Saturday night, the Mayor in the chair, for the purpose of co-operating with the Kumara goldfield and tho Borongh of Kumara and Ahaura, for the purpose of obtaining if possible a deviation of; the line between Grey and Hokitika. The following resolutions w&re unanimouslycarried :—-" That .in the opinion of this meeting it is desirable that the Hokitika and Grey Eailway should be diverted So as to pass through Kumara, Goldsborough and Stafford, as each deviation would be to the interest of Grey mouth and Grey Valley as well as the different centres of population, and would conduce to the prosperity of the West Coast generally." "That with a view of giving effect to the foregoing resolution, that a petition to the Hon. the Minister of of Public Works be prepared and signed by the inhabitants of Greymouth and this district." ,
