Wellington, This day. There were barley sufficient members present to-day to constitute a meeting of the House. It was prorogued by Commission at one o'clock.
Betting is in faror of the Government getting a majority in the elections.
The Thames delegates along with Mr Sheehan will be back by the first steamer probably to the Thames via Katikati.
Mr Rowe has determined there shall be no walk over.
„ Sir George Grey is likely to give a show to a local candidate if he should be elected for Christchurch.
Sir William Fox is expected to be beaten at Wanganui. '
The betting is that 30 members of the present House .will not go back, .T. E. Macdonald has been sworn in as Judge. 'sy '■
