HAWERA.
This day.
A meeting was conrened last night for the anti-Greyites and the supporters of Atkinson. About 20 people were in atten* dauce, but the Chairman ruled that only Atkinson's supporter* could take part in it. It was proposed that a committee be formed to support Major Atkinson, and an amendment was mored that no committee be formed until Major Atkinson had been heard. The original motion was carried by the canting Tote of the Chairman, and the meeting broke up without forming any committee.
Sherwood is busy canvassing, and is gaining support in consequence of the bad generalship of Atkinson's friends. There is a strong feeling that Atkinson has not done justice to the district.
