Commenting on the political situation, the New Zealander says :—" We trust Ministers will not give way one inch. If the Opposition be determined to stop Supplies, let them do so, it will but hasten the day of reckoning. We are sure that the Opposition will never dare tQ"carry rbut their leader's threat, and if the division bell be rung, the Opposition will be beaten." I
Seymour Thorn George will not offer himself for re-election for Hokitilca, as he has received requisitions from Rodney and Marsden, and will elect to stand for one or the other.
