The talk in political circles here to-day has been: chiefly confined to the supposedl intention of the Hon. John Sheehan to be nominated as one of the members for this electoral district. Sir George Grey's candidature is considered certain, and that he is to be our member in the new Parliament is accepted as if a thing accom-j plished. The great popularity of the; Native Minister, who is looked on as a brother in v arms of the Premier, would also probably ensure his; election,' 'without opposition; at leasti the majority of the candidates who intend; contesting' the' seat in the Grey interest would prefer falling out of the contest to an appeal to the ballot box with such men as Sir George and Mr Sheehan against them. The general feeling is, however,; in favor of a local man being elected with Sir George, as Mr Sheehan, if in the new' Ministry, would scarcely have the time ji to attend to our manifold local wants. -i
