Sir William Tot asked that the electoral roll of *thd ■ Bay of Islands should be purged, no contracts entered into, and the Gorernor should not
be advised to make any appointmeuts to the Upper House, and that the elections be fixed to come off this month. 1 These proposals.the Premier absolutely refused, and said he would insist upon Supplies being granted by the Opposition or throw all the blame of the refusal upon them. A number of speeches were made, and Mr Wakefield was speaking at 10 o'clock.
