The fortnightly retorting for this company produced 2890zs 3dwts gold. About 200 tons of stuff and a parcel of picked stone was crushed. Williams' lode, where driven on by the company in the tunnel level, is at present split up through going through tight ground. The mine manager's report for the week is as foU lows:—"80 ieet level.—No driving has "been done at this level during last fortnight, and all the quartz from slopes in All Nations and No. 3 reef is now stowed Jn the, mine and will be forwarded to ,the battery next week. Tunnel level, No. 3 reef—3o feet has been driven east from tribute boundary. The lode is now split up and is going through light country. One cwt of picked stone and specimens has been broken from the leading stope| during; fortnight. The intermediate level ■ has been extended 25 feet east and 29 .feet west from the winze sunk below tunnel to 80 feet level. When the mine is clear of quarlz nowj broken two stopes will be at once started here. Point Russell section—ln driving west the 'specimen leader is 8 inches' thick, andof promising appearance, being heavily ;charged with minerals. 501b of picked. stone and specimens' have- been; broken from the stope on main reef. This! lode ha§ -not I think been wprked in.;the| old stopes above, having been left in! hanging-wall, as there was a horse ofi mullock 'six feet thick between this and. the leader. Tunuell, cross-cut south- hasj been extended 21 feet this, week. The country contains quartz stringers and is {rather tighter. The stuff obtained from the new reef is now being treated. During the fortnight 205 tons of quartz has-been crushed, including 2cwt of specimens and picked stone, yielding 293' 6uhc es o f retorted gold:. Winding 'engine—The repairs ;to bc)il,er , ;! jb^c completed, and winding was resumed to-day.; During the. stoppage the, engine gearing has been altered, the material for this being on hand. More power is now obtained, and winding can be done from a greater depth.—l am, et;o., Robert Comee." At the company's mill the ffpllowing tribute parties have just commenced crushing operations:—-Martin and party, and Reed and party.
