Wellington, Saturday. The Session will commence in earnest at two o'clock on Tuesday. At half-past two His Excellency will be received at , the. entrance to the building with a guard of honour of IQO men of the newly-formed artillery will be fired: He will then enter the Chamber of the Legislative Assembly, .and deliver the address, members of the (House of [Representatives being summoned to that Chamber to hear the viceregal speech. Of the policy the speech foreshadowed you have already been informed as fully |as possible, when it is considered that the address is still kept carefully guarded by lock and key.
<• Tho Maori prisoners are to be lionised' next week, the public being admitted to view-at certain hours. Mr Mackay is still in charge, assisted by Mr E. H. Power, of fche Thames, who is assistant show-keeper at this model prison-house. It is understood that in consequence of the feeling excited over the election of Chairman of Committees, and Government declining to exercise their influence in favour of any particular candidate, that Mr Bunny will retire from the contest, and the probable result will be a walk over for Mr Seymour, the Government gracefully withdrawing opposition in consideration of the way in which Mr O'Rorke's election was treated by the Opposition. It is generally believed the loan Government will ask for this session will be four million. It is reported that the Opposition have alienated Messrs Hobbs and Murray from the Government side. The new Speaker was presented to-day to, the Governor, who; approved of the choice made by-tlie, House. An appeal has been made to the new Speaker for increased gallery accommodation for Pretjs representatives. ' i ; ' ■■■■■'■■•■- This day..
