MERCER.
Friday. Extraordinary Case of Suspended Animation. There is extraordinary excitement at Pokeno. Mr Austin, of Pokeno, who died (as was supposed) on Monday, and oa whom an inquest was held before the Coroner, Captain Jackson, a verdict of " Death from heart disease" being returned, is reported to be still alive. The burial was fixed to fake place yesterday at Pokeno. A large number of friends gathered at the house, when the funeral party were agitated by the statement that Mr Austin could not be dead. On the body being examined it was found that the joints were supple, the muscles pliable, and the skin quite healthy-looking. There is not the slightest taint nor the least discolouration
of the skin, and the face is quite natural .Jooking, with a fresh blooming complexion. "Not a movement of the limb or muscle is visible, however. The wife and family are in a most painful state of suspense. The mourning party went home, and the body was left in the coffin. A doctor has been sent for from Auckland to examine the case.
