Medical NOTICE. PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS * GLOBULUS EXTRACT. FTNOER the distinguished patronage of U Hie Majeßty tho King of Italy, at Home, accordingfto communication^ received from the Consul-General for Italy, at. Melbourne, upon instructions 'from the Minister for Foreign, Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. ' ■•' .* We are informed that dealers in mediciae often, try to sell the eucalyptus oil found,in, the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a caie is concerned the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the attention of the public to the followirigfapts:-~. ";", X r The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as n medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the applica-1 tion of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, &c, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the disease. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market' value being about three shillings one pound, weight; our extraots consists of the evaporating particles of tbe gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twentyfour shillings for one pound weight. Our ' extract, the genuine article, is only made up :in one half ounce and one ounce vials; vials [bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. . | feg~No other essence is genuine except that in the vials bearing oh the labels our . . signature and trademark. To be had at the manufactory, SANDER AND SONS, Bridge street, Sandhurst, Tictoria. ! Sold in Vials only at Is 6d and 2s 6d each. Sole Agent for the, Thames— : . For Sinapisms or Plasters. Adopted by the Hospitals of Paris, Field , and Military Hospitals, by the English ; Royal Navy, and the French Na« j ' tional Navy, &c, ; Under the name of Mustard Leaves, I have introduced a new kind of Sinapism, which* has none of the inconvenience inherent to the Mu9tard poultice, as formerly used. Instead ef the many disagreeble and expensive operations required in the application of a sinapism as prepared by the ordinary method, one single leaf, immersed in water for half a minute and immediately after applied to the, skin, will'have the same effect as .produced by a Mustard poultice, but without the annoyance of any linen being soiled, and saying the: patient and the people near him from the inconvenience of the disagreeable smell;and acrid vapor arising out from ah ordinary poultice. ; ' '< But I would rather not commend myself my' invention, and refer to the opinion and testi monials of the, following eminent Doctors. ■ ; c P. RIGOLLOT, Ex-Assistant Chemist at Hospitals, Laureate : of the School of Pharmacy. • | 24, Avenue Victoria, Paris. ;To retain the whole of the properties of Mustard in its powdered state, arid to obtain easily in a few moments a decided result with the smallest possible quantity of the remedy, are the problems which Mr Rigollot has resolved in the most conclusive arid Satisfactory manner. Rigollot's Sinapism in leaves will, therefore,be found in every family, for the prompt action obtained by it in many cases of emergency renders ie an in invaluable remedy for many disorders. \ ' ' i " ! H. BoUCHAmDAT, Professor of Hygiene at the School of Medicine of Park; Member of Academy of i Medicine. ' (" Aunuaire Therapeutique," 1868, page 204.) " Under the name of Mustard Leaves, Mr Rigollot has introduced in the therapeutic a most active and convenisnt sinapism, the use of which has been adopted by the i hospitals of Paris, &c." ; REGNAUIT, Professor of the School of Medicine of Paris, , Member of the Academy of Medicine, Director of the Central Pharmacy of Hospitals. ,(" Traite de Pharmacio Theorique et Pratique," de Soubeyran, 6o edition, page 675 ) The last " Annuaire Pharmaceutique " was one of the first to rriention that ingenious invention (the Mustard Leaves, by , Paul. Rigollot) the introduction of whicu was then quitenew, and we foretold that success which never fails useful things and reul progress. " We want to mention it again, after one year of therapeutio essays, in order to insist that the new sinapism has proved fully successful. , It has been unanimously favoured and adopted by all the medical body. Inventions really good are bo rare, that no one will be surprised at our praising that which so fully confirms our favourable prognostic by a wholo year of successful essays. PABIBEL, Formerly Preparator at the School of Pharmacy of Paris,' &c, ! ("Annuaire Therapoutique," 1869, page 239.) RIGOLLOT'S PAPER IS SOLD IN THE THREE DIFFERENT FORMS— ' 1.!
