PARLIAMENTARY.

(Per Pbess Agency.)

Lobby Gossip.

The Chairmanship of Committees.

The Government to be Attacked on their Native Policy.

Wellington, This day.

It is reported in the lobbies of the House,' and is partially verified, that there will be six candidates for Chair-! manship of Committees, viz.: Bryce, Kelly, Seymour, Thomson, Hamlin, and Bunny.

The Government will display no preference for any candidate.

It is expected that Mr Bryce will decline to stand,on account'of ill health.

It is thought that Seymour and Thomson would stand the best chance of election, but as the support promised Bunny is considerable, it is feared that the votes may be bo split up between Seymour, and Thomson that Bunny may step in; arid the friends of both candidates are nowdisr cussing the propriety of drawing lots for one or the other to retire, so as Jto Qon« sentrate the strength and defeat Bunny; The Ministerialists will strongly support Thomson. -......, !

; Neither Thomson nor ' Oliver , will accept office in the Ministry.

The Government will be vigorously attacked on their Native policy in the Address in Reply. . ;

It is understood that a large number of members have expressed themselves openly unfavorable to the granting of the two hundred pounds which for years it has been customary to add to the Speaker's salary for defraying the cost of , his sessional dinners. Those opposed to this vote pledge themselves not to attend the Speaker's dinners.
