I ; This day. Exoitement Among the Patea JV j Settlers. j Te WJiiti Wants Ms Mat I Swept Clean. An Attempt to Start Ploughing: t ■. Again. There is tome excitement among the settlers, and many are anxious to support thej Hawera settlers. Residents here .are extremely gratified at the action taken by them in pushing the. natives over the Waingongoro bridge. , r, Titokowaru has not returned from the Parihaka meeting, but awaits instructions from Te Whiti who saya hid mat must be i swept clean; meaning the settlers must be swept off the land. A further contingent of natives, on arriving yesterday after, the ploughing men had been taken off, wished to resume the ploughing, but Commissioner Williams warned them, saying the settlers were not to be played with. Tyhey, dis* persed then, but it is supposed that they will return in greater force, and attempt the ploughing again. Great preparations are being made for any emergency. '< A
