The : Mayor said Capfc. Souter deserved some consideration, as without doubt the greatest part of the water registered by the meter had been lost, owing to tho defective pipes along tho wharf. Mr Brodio moved that the matter bo referred to Colonel Fraser as arbitrator.
Seconded by Mr Brassoy. Carried. APPLICATION. """'" •A. letter was read from C. Judd, asking the Coramittee to lay on the water to his foundry from the back street, a 8 the pipes in Queen street were so , much incrusted that but littlewater 'came in. Mr Brodie moved that the application stand over. Helsaid)that itlwjtd [probable an amicable arrangement would be come to between the local -bodies interested. Morrin. ; The Chairman said that previous to the receipt of the above a telegram had been received from Messrs T. and 8. Morrin, stating that the coupons had been handed over 7 tp, the Bankhof, New Zealand., ...- On the motion- of- Mr Brodie;: it Was resolved that the Chairman wait on the Bank and inform them of the steps being taken to liquidate the debts of the Committee.' ME MCCAUL*B 'ACCOUNT. A letter was received from Macdonald and Miller on behalf of Mr McCaul asking payment of the sum of £74, the amount of a judgment Mr McCaul had obtained against the Committee. The letter was ordered to be dealt with in the same manner asthe one last read. BATE. The striking of the rate was deferred till after the solution of the financial difficulty.. - <t > . - - This'was all the business.
