His Honor Mr Justice Fichmond has seldom been more humorous than he wag at the Supreme -Court, at Wanganui, a rday or twp ago, on theßubject of the age of a perennial-Jooking : gentleman who applied to be exempt from jury servica on the plea that he wag 62 years of age. The old gentleman, to, all outward appearance, was not more than 4.6, and according to the Manawatu Times, the following dia-; logue ensued :—His Honor (in surprise) —"Sixty-two, sir; did you say .flirty-; two?" Juror—"Yes, your Honor.'^ The Judge—" Pray, sir, are you sworn P " JnTOr—" I am, your Honor." The Judge '„_«« And y°n are Bt^ sixty-two? " The answer was, of course, in the affirmative, whett the Court replied,:"Then, sir, you beaeyour,years remarkably well. Ifiyou prew your exemption, of course, I must jallow>it4 still,si;- consider, you are fit for; service. Sixty-two, you said?" Juror' fr —« Yes, my Lord ;I am sixty-two, and never consulted a lawyer ii my life." /Judged (in -efident relief) —" Aha! that, &a'ec«oant»for"yonr looking so well. Youmay go, sir, you .are exempt.X I?ol-' low out the same wise course, and you jmay lite to be a hundred."
