CALEDONIAN.
Crushing for this company has been commenced at the Herald mill, and I am informed that so far it is shaping for an average somewhat similar to that of the trial parcel. This, crushing will consist of about 30 loads of dirt. At the mine the reef at Wo. 2 level is two feet thick and shows a little gold. So far the reef - has proved itself to be worth an ounce •' per load and if this average keeps' up, with 'the amount .of., stuS" available, the company ' has got a very good thing. It is intended shortly to commence operations on the same reef at the No. 3 level, as. the'connection effected by the Old Golden Calf hat given good air throughout. To work the lode at No. 3 a short crosscut will be necessary. The favorable proipects met with at the No. 2 level by the Caledonian war* rants the belief that a considerable im- 0 provement will be met with at the greater • depth. ■-. r .,., .... ..
