\ ■ "■' • EIIIIEIHI. 1;::;^- v' - -:' ' - ■•'" ' ::--':.r '. ''V.: j'Yesterda^r.:.!. '■■ A , meeting wai held, jto-day at,one o'clock pm. ; Present—Hon. «Fphn Sue*?. Lan, Manga, and sereral other important ohiefs. After some discussion the following boundaries were, laid,, before <. the Native Minister:—Commencing 'from Mangawaka through to Orakau, thence to Maungatautkri, thence on to the Waikatb Eiver, which it crosses and re-crosses; thence to Taupo. This is as it were an aukate line. The lands included in this area, crown granted, remain; in theloccupation of the grantees. All liens advanced of or their blocks, are to bo investigated. All lands disputed between Europeans and Maoris the boundaries are to be settled by Mr Sheehan and Eewi. Lands with disputed boundaries between natives are to be settled by Manga mainly, and some other chiefs. : Mr ■ Sheehan, offerji, if the survey of boundary;is wantedj to help; them. The surveyi not yet concluded; by whom to be borne, is to be settled at the ineetingj! ' '"' y'!:l[ <: ':;'J Tama Tamihana stated that these proposals would meet with disfavor from the absentees. Manga, Aphia, and other chiefs have arranged with Mr Sheehan to commence the survey of the Mokau lands at' bnre. \ Later. This day.

The southern boundary front Taupo to Pukeharue is 'andefir^d, as the names of many of the places laid down in Eewi's proposals are unknown to the Government and Europeans, in fact the Whole of the boundaries, are only tentatively given. In the northern portion of tho reserve the King is reported to have some interest. The boundaries of the block will have, of course, to'be surveyedi that by the action of the Government, the proposal to make Tawhiao a kind of independent prince in this territory is abandoned. The consent of Apiha, 'We'tere, Tainui, Heremai, and others to Eewi's proposals enables the Mokaußiver and its coal-fields to be connected with the 1 Waitara line of -railway at once, as the' owners . are anxious for, the, working!' of Mokau coal. It will enable owners to run a line of rail up the Mokau.river district some distance, and the probablity.of objectinjf? land owners preventing' the continuation thence to Awamutu: or" elsewhere will become considerably lessened. Apiha and Wetere formerly determined to open Mokau. ;

The Native Minister, Mr Lewis, Tinker Secretary and others go to the Cambridge Land Court at noon this day with most of the natives.
