Medical NOTICE. PUEE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTBACT. UNDER tho distinguished patronage of His Majesty the King of Italy, at Borne, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions lJrom tho Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often: try to Bell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against tho public in such a case is concerned the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the attention of the public to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the akin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, &c, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases, being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the disease. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinouß product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight;, our extraots consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its .effects, its 'price being twentyfour shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark.and signature. JgpTNo other essence is genuine except that in the vials bearing on the labels.our signature and trade mark. UNSOLICITED TESTIMONIAL. Extraordinary Cure of an Auckland Omnibus Driver, 21 years Resident, of Long-standing Rlieumatism, .„ ■, Auckland, August 20,1878. Dear Sir, —I had suffered severely and most acutely from- Rheumatism for many years, brought on, I believe, from exposure to all weathers in the exercise of my calling. For years I could not sleep at night, and was unable to lie except in one position. Day and night I wbb full of excruciating pains, scarcely able to move about at all, and as a * natural sequence my general health was also materially injured. I believe I suffered the pangs of Rheumatism and its attendant evils in every shape and form, and my life was a burden "to me. I tried every remedy I could hear of, but without obtaining any relief whatever. The sum I spent in medicine and medical advice was very, considerable,.'but'of po avail, until I invested in a bottle of your Blood Restorer. I may say that I was not hopeful at all, when I purchased your medicine; I had tried so many specifics without receiving the slightest (benefit, but having determined to give it a fair trial I carried out my intention. I adhered strictly to-the directions, and the result is that I am changed from a mere wreck to my former self again—restored to lieulth and vigor, and able to drive daily through all weathers, 'and at all hours, if occasion re* quires. I am sure you have never bad a worse case to deal with than mine, and although even now, in bad weather, I feel my limbs rather stiff, after sitting on the box for a long! time, ,1 am a living example of the almost miraculous curative properties (under Providence) of your now celebrated Blood Restorer. My friends tell me it is a duty 1 owe to my fellow creatures to send you this acknowledgement, and if" it is the'means of persuading other sufferers to go and do likewise, I shall feel that this letter is not written in vain. I have the more pleasure in giving this testimonial as it is quite unsolicited on your part. You are at liberty, of course, to make any use of this. —I am, sir, yours gratefully, • , Henby Maiden. To H. :E. Kitchens, Esq., Auckland. Agent for the Thames — GEOEGE £ D E NißiY, , Bbown Steeet, GRAHAMSTOWN. 82
