; Medical ( NOTICE. PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. UNDER the distinguished patronage of His Majesty the King of Italy, at Home, accordingito communication received from the Consul-GFeneral for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions the Minister for foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade.instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So i far as the committing of imposition against the public in such.a case i/concerned ; the, consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both, of ..the products, are in many cases directly opposed to one another; weiconsider it our duty to direct the attention of sthe public to the following facts:—. The eucalyptus oil if recorded\ to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. i • ;■ /
Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, Ac, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unques" tiobably, proved by former, publications in this paper. An application of the pil instead of our extract must impair the disease. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that: the,; oil is A a resinous product^ equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; our extraots consists of the evaporating particles of the* gum leaves, soothing nad healing'in'its effects, its 5 1 price being twenty-; foup shillings jfor I one pound; weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only male up in one half ounce and one ounce vials; this bearing, on the labels our trade raark ard signature. ""(.,,.-,.' \ r ,','.,,' ..' .".',,- ..... .> ; :
