CHRISTCHURCH.
Saturday. Dr Moritz Mark suicided yesterday, taking a strong dose of morphia chlorale. The cause is pecuniary embarrassment. He leaves a wife and one child. He was quite cheerful a few hours before the occurrence.
This day. At the inquest on Dr Marks' body the verdict recorded was to the effect that he died by poison administered ■ by) his own hand. '
J. Harding, billiard marker at Ijhe Central Hotel, w^s charged with stealing a watch valued at £10, and was committed for trial. Bail was allowed the prisoner, for JBJOO. and two sureties for £50 each.
