Thames Domestic Water. Supply.

A special meeting of the Committee wag held this, morning.. The meeting was called in consequence of the secretary having received a letter from Mr McCaul notifying the arrival of the "\it&f pipes, and asking the Committee to fulfil its part of the contrabtrwhich■Was to pay half tho cost on delivery of the' pipes. Present—His Worship the Mayorl (itf the chair), Messrs Price, Braisey^Stone, and Thorburn.

rTlie Chairman stated the financial"* position of the Committee, and asked if any member could suggest a way out of the present difficulty/paying Mr McCaul for the pipes. Mr Thorburn said there was Tory little use in talking . much. F Thef c was one thing certain, the pipes should be kept, for the welfare of the community demanded that provision should bfejmad§sor « better supply of water to several parts of the township. •.-,,.■-. r '„-p, . Mr Brassey r remarked that the present situation was caused by the action of the Thames County Council.

Mr Tkorburi said it was more, from the fact that an Act was not passed through' the Parliament last session enabling the Committee to lery a rate, and so hare a certain income. Mr Brassey proposed "That the Mayor, Mr Thorburn, and Stone, bei Committee to wait upon Mr McCaul, ardj if'poiiaible, to arrange for the pipes being kept on tuo Thames.
