CHEISTCHUCH.
Wednesday.
At an inquest held to-day on the body of the young man, Frank W. Bush, found in the river Avon on Monday, a verdict of " Found drowned " was returned.
A number of telegrams have passed between the Mayor of Christchurch and the Hon. J. T. Fisher on the subject of a banquet being held in Christohurch in honour of the visit of the Governor. The Mayor received the following telegram : —" The Governor will be only too happy to accept your invitation to a banquet if well enough, but is at present suffering from a severe cold, and sore, throat." In all probability the banquet will be abandoned, and a ball substituted. A meeting of leading citizens was held this afternoon, when arrangements were made for His Excellency's reception. During his stay in town the Governor and party will be guests of the Hon. W. llobinson.
