BOROUGH MATTERS.
(To tho Editor of the Evening Star.)
Sib, —The Borough auditors have examined the accounts and vouchers for the past 12 months, but under section 132 of the Municipal Corporations Act need not oertify to them or send them to the Council until the 30th'day of April, and the auditors are not only authorised, but are compelled to ascertain if the sums are expended; but also if the Council had power under the Act to so expend them. I understand the auditors, or at least one of them, is not satisfied that the advances of £480 to the Harbor Board, and £2116 Is to the Water Supply Committee are, strictly speaking, Borough fund expenditure, and he is communicating with Government on the subject, hence the reason of the return not having yet been made to the Borough by them, and also the reason of the accounts not being yet published.
