AUCKLAND.
This day.
At the Police Court to-day Charles Allen Edinbdrough was charged on the information of James McCorm'ick with selling bottled beer without a license and was fined one shilling and costs. Daring the hearing of the case Mr Tole, M.H.R., who appeared.for the informant, insisted on addressing the Court when Mr Barstow, the Resident Magistrate, said: I I cannot hear you, sir. Mr Tole again attempted to address the Court.
Mr Barstow: Do you want to change places with me? I have no-power to hear you. ' -l
Mr Tole: I don't wish to change places —I am better where I am; but I hope you will not treat the bar with contmpfc. ..-■■.-;
Mr Barstow : The Bench has always met with sympathy and courtesy from the Bar with one exception. Mr Tyler: I hope this is not the exception. ;
Mr Tole: I have not met with courtesy from the Bench. .....'." {- ■
Mr Barstow : I shall not retort.
The Court rose.
