Medical NOTICE. PUEE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTEACT. ITNDER the distinguished patronage of U His Majesty the King of Italy, at Borne, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions 'from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine eften try to sell, the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as'the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned the consequences would not be serious; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, •we consider it our duty to direct the attention of the public to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of ralue as a medicament in cases of' rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. • Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, &c, the curative power of-our extract on the named diseases being unquesr tiocably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the disease.' ; The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; our extraots consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty- ; four shillings, for ; one pound weight. ;i Our. extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials j vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. ■ $gTlso other essence is genuine except Ihut in the vials bearing on the labels our signature and trade mark. Extraordinary t Cure of an Auckland Omnibus Driver, 21 years Resident, of Long-standing Rheumatism. Auckland, August 20,1878; Dear Sir, —I had suffered severely and most acutely from Rheumatism for many years, brought on, I believe, from exposure to all weathers in the, exercise of my calling. For years I could not sleep at night, and was unable to lie except in one position. Day and night I was full of excruciating pains, scarcely able to move about at all, and aa a natural sequence my general health was also materially isjured. I believe I suffered the "pangs of Rheumatism and its attendant evils in every Bhape and form, and my life was a burden to me. I tried every remedy I could hear of, but without obtaining any relief whatever. The sum I spent in medicine and medical advice was very considerable, but of no avail, until I invested in a bottle of your Blood Restorer. I may say that I was not hopeful at all when I purchased your medicine; I had tried bo many specifics without receiving the slightest benefit, but having determined to give it a fay trial I carried out my intention. I adhered strictly to the directions, and the result is that I am changed from a mere wreck to my former self again—restored to health and vigor, and able to drive daily through all weathers, and at all hours, if occasion re quires. I am sure you have never had a worse case to deal with than mine, and although even now, in bad weather, I feel my limbs rather stiff, after sitting on the box for a long time, 1 am a living example of the almost miraculous curative properties (under Providence) of your now celebrated Blood Restorer. My friends tell me it is a duty I owe to my fellow creatures to send you this acknowledgement, and if it is the means of persuading other sufferers to go and do likewise, I shall feel that this^etter ia not written in vain. I have the moro pleasure in giving this testimonial as it is quite unsolicited on your part. You are at liberty, of course, to make any use of this.—l am, Sir, yours gratefully, Heney Maiden. To H. E. Hitchens, Esq., Auckland. Agent for the Thames— GEOEGE DEBfB.I, Bbown Sikeet, GRAHAMSTOWN.; 82
