Gas Coliectobs and Consttmebs.— The greater portion of the surface of the new gai bills is devoted to a request that consumers report at the office any " disrespect shown them by employees of the company." This is pretty hard on those long-suffering mortals, the gas-bill collectors, whose routes have been anything but " rose-strewed paths of dalliance " ever since copper-toed boots came in. The'whole thing looks like an underhand' .attempt on the part of the gas directors 1 -to create vacancies. The memory of man , runs not to the time that nine landlords: out of 10 would not rather gain a few days' time by reporting the collector in-i stead of paying their bills when due.' The question arises, to whom are the 'Cpllectorsjto ■" report "the beats, bullies, rand Biddies who slang-wang them off at least three steps in every block in some wards.
