' What is meant 'by eonscieuce ? [' said a schoolmaster to ti;s ctaM. The almost simultaneous reply of .Half theirnumber, was: 'A hind ward monitor.' An inspector who happened to be present, inquired.^,' and what do you understand by a monitor P' To this au intelligent youth exultingly answered: •AHirondad.'"
