Medical NOTICE. PUEE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTEACT. ITNDER the distinguished patronage of U His Majeisty the King of Italy, at Borne, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions 'from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine eften try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of .imposition against the public in such a case is concerned the consequences would rrot be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, ■wo consider it our duty to direct the attention I of the public to the following facts:— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must, increase inflam-? mation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, &c, the curative power of our Extract on the named diseases being unqueS' tionably proved by forme* publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract mußt impair th« disease. : The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinouß product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market yalue being about three shillings one pound weight; our extraots consists of the evaporating particles of;the gum leaves, soothing afid healing in its effects, its price being twentyfour shillings forone pound" weight.' 1 Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up) in one half ounce and one ounce vials; vials bearhag on' the labels: our trade mark and signature. ■ ■'■■ : tgJTNo other essence is genuine except that in the vials bearing on the labels our : ..:■ signature and trademark.. Extraordinary Cure of ::an~ Auckland Omnibus Driver, 21 years Resident, of Long-standing Rheumatism. . Auckland, August 20,1878. Dear Sir, —I had suffered : severely and most acutely from Rheumatism for many years, brought on, I believe, from exposure to all weathers in the exercise of my calling. For years I could not sleep at night, and was unable to lie excepb in one position. Day and night I was full of excruciating pains, scarcely able to move about at all, and as a natural sequence my general health was also materially injured. I believe I suffered the pangs of Rheumatism and its attendant evils "in every shape* and form, and my life was a burden to me. I tried every remedy I could hear of, but without obtaining any relief whatever. The sum I spent in medicine and medical advice was very considerable, but of no avail, until 1 invested in a bottle of your Blood Restorer. I may say that I was not hopeful at all when I purchased your medicine; I had tried so many specifics without receiving the slightest benefit, but having determined to give it a fair trial I carried out my intention. I adhered strictly to the directions, and the result is that I am changed from a mere wreck to my former self again—restored to health and vigor, and able to drive daily through all weathers, and at all hours, if occasion re quires. lam sure you have never had a worse case to deal with than mine, and' although even now, in bad weather, I feel my limbs rather stiff, after sitting on the box for a long time, 1 am a living example of the almost miraculous curative properties (under Providence) of your now. celebrated Blood Restorer. My friends tell me it is a duty t owe to my fellow creatures to send you this acknowledgement, and if it is the means of persuading other sufferers to go and do likewise, I shall feel that this letter is not written in vain. I have the more pleasure in giving this testimonial as it is quite unsolicited oh your part. • You are at liberty, of course, to make any use of" this.—l am, air, yours gratefully, Henby Haidjjn. To H. E. Hitchens, Esq., Auckland. Agent for the Thames— GEO EG E DEN BY, Bbown Steeex, GRAHAMBXOWN. 82
