RECREATION GROUND.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
Slß,—l took a walk a few days since up to the Recreation Ground, and I was much pleased with some portions of tbe same. By the side of the creek there is a very flat piece, of perhaps eight or ten acres, that could be made one of the best cricket grounds on the Thames. The road up the creek, if ever made, will pass it. »Then, further up, near Mr Walker's farm, there is a spot that could b9 made a good race-course. There are some very pretty parts, which could be made ornamental for school and other parties. A person of taste should be able to lay off the various parts, and plant such trees as would soon make a good shade for pleasant retreat during the hot weather. The only drawback I see, is the distance from town. The cab and 'bus fares will be a consideration with many who have families. A good road made to the Grounds would be a step in the right direction, and unless this is done, I would advise the Council to fence and put it down in grass, andVet^fc to the highest bidder. H. Stilweii.
