Wednesday,. Mr Clarke, tailor, gave his wife the money to pay the premium on £500 insurance, as before noon the policy would lapse. She paid the money and on returning found her husband dead. He had been suffering from heart disease and dropsy.
A meeting is to be held to-day under the auspicies of the Hon W. F. Fox to form the New Zealand jAlliance.
