Annual Inspections.

THAMES NAVAL BRIGADE

The annual Government inspection of the above fine company took place at the Naval Hall last evening. There were 100 rank and file present, including (he baud, and the following officers : Captain Wildman, Lieuts. Gavin, Brown, and Lawless. Colonel Lyon, a veteran army officer, made the inspection, being accompanied by Major Murray. After inspection Colonel addressed the company complimenting them on their smart appearance, and especially referring to the absence of talking in the ranks—a fault he observed with most volunteers. Mnjor Murray also said a few words to the men thanking them for their good muster, and informed them that Colonel Lyon would command them en route to the Waikato. Headed by the band, the Brigade then had a march out, after which they were dismissed. I
